The depop game isn't easy. Like many other online retailers, it's a struggle out here. When I first got into the app, I thought I could just take old decrepit shirts from my closet and use tags like "vintage" and "ultra rare" to justify charging $30 or more per shirt.
As you may have already guessed, I was completely right. Depop users are extremely gullible, they will buy anything as long as it's expensive and nobody wants it. The crustier the better! Those old Mickey Mouse sweaters that your parents have stored in their closet? Those are hot right now. Cash out on those ASAP!
I will be showing one of these typical, ultra rare, vintage gems in a great example of a post I found on Depop. This particular post makes the buying experience extremely easy for the customer resulting in instant cash!
What makes this post special?
Pictures
To an inexperienced Depop user, this post may seem normal, but I assure you this is a quality piece of content. The most important piece of a post is the picture.
As a heavy user of the app, I can say that there are many pictures that look like they were taken from a Motorola Razor, they do not represent the item to its full potential. I promise you can sell almost anything on this app as long as you represent it well.
As seen in the picture, the sweater is completely visible along a solid white background, which is typically what you want. Notice the sweater is taken in bright light, but still hides any possible crust marks from the 80s when your dad use to rock this vintage gem.
Measurements & Tags
Whenever you make a post, something that everyone does is leave a little description of what the item is. What almost nobody does is leave specific measurements of the item to inform the potential buyer. This avoids dozens of messages in your inbox asking you for extra size information. This is a great example of providing the market with as much information as possible.
Tags are also very important in a post because they attract more buyers. If you really want to go try-hard like the example post, you should use every single character that you are allowed in the description. This will maximize your selling potential.
